Whistling Villa – Runaway Bay, Jamaica

Although I didn’t actually stay at Whistling Villa in Runaway Bay, I had the pleasure of touring this property, photographing it and putting together a beautiful video for it, seen below.  The owners of this villa are the same people who own these cute vacation apartments that I did stay at and review in Salem.

How would you like to wake up to this every morning?

Whistling Villa is located in the Cardiff Hall area of Runaway Bay, Jamaica which is only about 45 minutes drive from Montego Bay airport and a quick 20 minute drive from Ocho Rios.  That gives you the best of both worlds if you’re thinking of trying out any of the tourist attractions near either major town.  The villa is in a quiet community just on the hillside behind Runaway Bay.

When I arrived I was given the full tour inside and outside of the 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom villa and it’s a perfect spot for groups of people traveling together, a girls getaway, families or pretty much anyone.  The place is completely private and has everything you need including AC, free wifi throughout, a huge yard and pool, and a full kitchen with an optional cook to prepare meals for you.  Seriously I could just imagine myself rolling out of bed in the morning and taking a quick dip in that pool with my morning coffee.

The main area of the villa is huge, open and airy.  Up here in the hills when you have all the windows open there’s an amazing breeze that flows through the entire place.  There’s even a rooftop patio which you’ll see in the video below.  I’m a star gazer when I’m in Jamaica and when you get outside of the towns at night you can see a trillion more stars than you could ever see from home!  I imagine I’d be on the rooftop patio here very night with my flask of rum.

If you’re wondering what’s nearby, you can walk into the town of Runaway Bay in about 15 minutes.  There you’ll find pretty much everything you need including supermarkets, ATM machines, bars, restaurants and yes…..even a new casino!  It must be fairly new because it wasn’t there the last time I visited the area a couple of years ago.

If you’re a beach lover Flavors Beach is also within walking distance, down the hill and across the main road.  It’s a free access beach with a restaurant and bar, and change rooms.
