What does being a “White Woman” have to do with playing the lottery in Jamaica? Everything if you play number 22!
This is a funny little story about playing the daily lotto called Cashpot in Jamaica. I’ll never understand how every Jamaican knows every single multiple meaning of all the Cashpot numbers, but on this last trip I latched onto ONE number:
22 – White Woman
Don’t get it twisted though because #22 can also mean pain, nurse, salt water, red ants, easy labor, dominoes, and a lot of ducks (plus at least 10 more meanings). Now do you see why I’ll never understand how Jamaicans know all of these? The Cashpot lotto has 36 numbers in it, all with upwards of fifteen different meanings for EACH number!
So anyway, my Canadian friend and I decided to start playing #22 – White Woman. We went to the supermarket nearest to where we were staying one morning and each wagered $100 JMD on our own #22 tickets. When we asked the lady behind the counter for #22 she smirked, knowing it was White Woman. There was also an older man in line who laughed as well, so we all had a good laugh. We didn’t win on the following draw but the next time we went into the store we saw the same old man who made a point of telling us that he is also playing #22 now lol.
Basically the way Cashpot works is that you can wager any amount of money on any number you want from 1 to 36. The higher your wager the more you’ll win. If we had won on a $100 wager we would have collected $2500 JMD for a win. There are five Cashpot draws each day and you can hear the numbers they draw on the radio.
The sad story is that we played #22 several times on our trip and it never did draw during the weeks that we played. But guess what? As soon as we stopped playing? OF COURSE #22 was drawn. A friend of mine texted me one day to tell me so!
I’ve been home from Jamaica for two weeks now and was talking to a friend down there the other day. He told me that #22 has played several times since I left. I think next time I’m going to play #21 – BAD GIRL. Or #27 – MAD PERSON.
Seriously, go have a look at the PDF download of all the Cashpot number meanings if you think you might want to study some and pick your favorites next time you’re in Jamaica. Some of them are hilarious! And if you want to know more about how to play or how much to bet just check out the Cashpot website. Happy gambling!

I just may apply those meanings to my 6/49 #’s I pick…..White Woman LOL!!!
Nice one…..I’ve never thought of using Cashpot meanings for 6/49 numbers here. Maybe we’re on to something!!

Haha this was a fun read.. I can very much relate to your story. I’ve started playing the game some time early last year and without winning I got addicted.. I just kept playing hoping I could win my money back.. But I guess luck wasn’t on my side .. I would play #21 and #23 play, played #4 and #5 ends up playing and it just going on like that for me. So I manage to walk away. I recently started back and damn I’ve been winning like crazy… As I’m writing this very comment I got me a winning cashpot ticket in hand lol yaay me… I hope the next time you visit Jamaica you will hit big *smiles
LOL thanks Jonathan! I hope I hit it as well! Luck wasn’t on my side that time. I’m glad you’re winning and playing. I guess that’s what gambling is all about right? The gamble!
Hi my name is shanique I 2 had 2 walk away 2 but now I started playing back I won 2 times so far but it’s not much but am grateful though
Haha. This was a pretty good read. Thank you.
After arriving at the NMI airport in Jamaica on route to cross roads, I was passing a group of people at the South camp road gas station, when my friend was interested in what was going on and stopped the car to look (faas). I having played cash pot before asked him what was the number that represented crowd. He quickly gathered his thoughts and said “people a shout so dat a mouth” the number for mouth is 14, so asked him to buy it for quite a bit almost $2000. Guess what ? The number played. I had won enough money to treat my friends and family to a good time everywhere we went for part of my holiday without having to spend any of my own I had planned to spend while I was there. It saved me a lot. However I was never lucky on other occasions I’ve visited. It’s addictive so be careful
LOL Bungles that’s an awesome story! And congrats on the win!
