If you can’t find Font Hill beach park you must be blind
A couple years ago some friends and I drove by this set of signs that made us laugh our heads off and I wondered if I’d ever pass by that way again. At that time I never had the forethought to take pictures. As luck would have it I’m now staying on the south coast for a short while and have passed by them again….and again. And even went to the place the signs were telling me about. Another Budget Rental Car roadtrip!
After all this time claiming I’m not a beach person I just had to go visit this beach because of the signs. Font Hill beach was a little less than I expected, beach-wise but more than I expected ambiance-wise. The place is quite lacking in actual beach and there’s only a small sandy patch among lots of rocks but the best part about it is that it’s very quiet. The day I went it was just myself and one Jamaican family. There is no one selling anything, no one to bother you at all.
Entering the park I thought this would be a great spot for big parties but the bartender told me they don’t really do parties down here. They just have all this space for nothing it seems. Very well kept park space, basketball hoops, several covered picnic tables, a great bar and the best sound system blaring smooth R&B and reggae towards the water.
Admission to Font Hill beach park is $350 jmd for adults and after going in I think it’s quite expensive for a place that isn’t much of a beach. I guess you pay more for the surroundings and amenities. There are plenty of showers, change rooms, places to sit and a great bar. The bar also serves food – the baked chicken was fabulous and only $350 jmd.
Yes that little spot where the woman is laying IS the beach. That’s all. But as you can see the park area is much bigger. I’m sure if I had walked down into the trees and past the rocks I would have found more little hidden coves. As soon as I mentioned Font Hill beach on my fan page someone told me that was the case.
For the most part I came to this beach just to take pictures of those signs after all these years. Mission accomplished. I would definitely go back just for the atmosphere and music though. You can enjoy a nice quiet day with no hassle from vendors. It was a great place to waste away a few hours.
