The Sweet Sounds at Sandals

Another Hidden Talent in Jamaica

“If you ever see her,
If you ever meet her,
If you ever get a chance to sit down and talk to her….”

Those are lyrics from a Chris Brown song that popped into my head as I was starting this blog post. It fits perfectly with how we discovered this sweet singer at Sandals Grande Riviera in Ocho Rios. But she’s not part of the entertainment crew at the resort. We heard her singing behind a food counter at one of the outdoor restaurants on a rainy day in May. She was completely in her own world, going about her business preparing food for guests and singing her little heart out!

What annoyed me about the whole situation was that guests were walking by completely oblivious to her sound! It’s all we could pay attention to as we sat there eating under a huge umbrella, so we called her over to our table. She came out from where she was working and came to our table to talk to us and she didn’t have a shy bone in her body. When we asked if we could film her and put it on Youtube she was more than happy to oblige so check her out below. What a sweetheart! Churches in Jamaica sure produce some awesome talent!

Who noticed all the clueless tourists walking by not even paying attention?

I swear, those are the people who are truly missing out when they visit Jamaica and it makes me shake my head. This girl is an example of the reasons why I keep saying that without the people, Jamaica would just be a piece of pretty land; nothing more.

So getting back to the Chris Brown lyrics I started this post with; If you ever see her, if you ever meet her….STOP, listen for a minute and say hello! Everyone has a story – I’m convinced of that.

    She’s so beautiful too!

  2. I noticed the tourists; too funny. I also noticed the Jamaicans in the background paying attention to her. I just love how so many Jamaicans love to see fellow Jamaicans sing, dance, or play some sort of sport. I always see them cheering for something a fellow Jamaican is doing. It is true that without the people, Jamaica would just be a pretty piece of land. But with the people, you feel a vibe there that you just can’t put into words, no matter how hard you try – or at least….I can’t. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. So true Jamie! The other Jamaican staff were all about her….they totally bigged her up.

  3. She’s gorgeous inside and out! Amazing voice. Those dumb tourists not even paying attention. I was going to write exactly the same comments as Jamie above – she said it well so no sense in repeating. Thanks for sharing Kristi ๐Ÿ™‚
