Why I Started My Jamaica Blog

Blogging About Jamaica Travel

airplane flying into sunsetI’m not going to lie to you – if I could blog about Jamaica travel for the rest of my life I would die happy! I think traveling and exploring is one of the most valuable things anyone can do in their lives. It opens your eyes to a world beyond the one you know and teaches you much more than you can ever learn in an institution. I’ve been blogging about Jamaica for more than 3 years now and it STILL never gets old to me. I’m surprised it’s taken me 3 years to tell you why I started and why I love it so much!

When I started traveling to Jamaica I quickly became addicted not only to the destination, but to the rush of the airport scene and taking flight! The journey really IS the destination! Nothing else had ever inspired me to keep an online journal until I started to travel and hardly anything after that (besides motherhood) inspired me to stick with something. Travel to Jamaica is my passion and I don’t believe I’ll ever stop unless airplanes cease to exist.

The best thing about travel blogging is that it allows you to relive ALL your travel moments over and over again, not only while you write but each time you go back to an old post and re-read it. There are so many posts on this blog that I sometimes forget I’ve written them. I wonder if Jamaica will ever stop giving me things to write about?

My format while blogging is to open my file folders full of photos and recreate the story in my head as the images dictate. The pictures always tell a chronological story of what I did and in what order it happened. I have often thought about stopping this madness to see if I could travel Jamaica just for the pure pleasure of it, and just enjoy my memories in my mind and heart. But then I snap out of that thought and say that what good are these memories unless they are shared with someone!

I promise you more Jamaica adventure stories WILL come back to this blog when the time is right.

      Thanks Mark!!

  4. I quite enjoy your blog and am glad I discovered it! Another thing I like about the way you blog is that you come across as a genuine person who wants to interact with your readers, not just out to get “fans”. Recently I’ve had to stop following a number of travel bloggers because they started to sound too commercial. Pimping one product after another at people while becoming as impersonal in their posts as the Travel Channel. Ughhh. I follow blogs for the people. It’s been nice getting to know YOU through your adventures in Jamaica. I’ve been travelling for years, but the thought never occurred to me to blog about it until recently. It IS a great way to keep track and I look forward to getting on the bandwagon (something which I don’t normally do! 🙂

Shelley I really appreciate you saying that. I do try to interact with every single person who comments on my blog posts…otherwise what’s the point in blogging? The purpose is to share. And as much as others learn from me, believe me I’ve learned a lot from you all too! I hardly qualify in the “knowing all about Jamaica” category LOL. Always open to learning more and giving fellow bloggers a boost!
