Pictures of Jamaican Countryside

When most people think of a Jamaica vacation they undoubtedly think of sun, sand and tropical blender drinks. That’s what a Caribbean vacation is about right? But if you’ve read any of my blog you’d know that’s not what my vacations are about!

Get out of that chair and off the beach! Go see some of the most beautiful countryside I’ve ever seen. If you’re driving from town to town and you have extra time, encourage your driver to take the back roads. You won’t regret it.

It might feel intimidating to get off the beaten path but as soon as you’re out in the countryside, it seems EVERY single turn in the winding roads uncovers a sight more breathtaking than the last turn.

If you don’t have any road trips planned take a stroll outside the front door where you’re staying and take a walk. There’s plenty of beautiful country you can see that’s not too far off the beaten path. This next shot was taken 5 minutes from our guest house…natural falls running under the road.

And if you MUST stay on the beaten path, on the beach highways, on the main roads, you’re still guaranteed to get your money’s worth in beautiful scenery.

Hi, I am living in the States for about 13yrs now. I am from Jamaica mainly the countryside. When i was younger I always was fascinated by the fact that all these tourist used to visit my little countryside. I am from St. Thomas and thats where you will find Blue MOuntain Peak. I went there once when i was a teen and it was amazing. Dont know how things are now but if you like camping and hiking it will be a fun thing to do. The view is insane. You can see all of Jamaica when you are there. Just thought i might add that.

  3. I spend most of my time in St. Thomas (past Morant Bay), and we have some of the most beautiful rivers and waterfalls! We bathe in them and, of course, use them for drinking/cooking water, and wash our clothes there. I wish I could upload pictures here…the water is the most beautiful blue and super cold! *Sigh*…home sweet home.

  4. Gorgeous!! Getting into the mountains is very high on my must-do list for JA!

    1. You definitely have to get up there. It’s truly God’s country!
