Who Am I?

jamaica my way

I’m Kristi,

and Jamaica has conquered me.  It’s turned me into a full-time addict of its people, culture, food and adventures, and my allegiance has slowly shifted from “Canadian office worker” to “random Jamaica thrill seeker”.   I have recklessly thrown myself into the core of the island and can’t seem to find my way out.

Most of my career history was spent as a government employee while raising my son.  I chose security over frivolity. Since I had never really traveled anywhere I didn’t know what I was missing so it didn’t matter.  More than fifteen years ago I discovered the unbridled joy of travel and through that I uncovered a passion for writing.  Ever since then I have been slowly combining the two of them to create a future.  I’m an independent woman and have become a very independent traveler with the purpose of encouraging others to experience life with the same adventurous spirit.

Get into the country, meet the people, jump on the back of a motorbike, GET OFF THE TOUR BUS!

My mission with this website is the same as my mission in real life:  When a person finds something they are passionate about I believe they should pursue it wholeheartedly.

When I first started traveling to Jamaica I didn’t know I would eventually write about it. When I first started writing about it I didn’t know it would become popular and develop so much of a following.  It helped me to believe in myself and made me realize I’d found something I was indeed good at and passionate about.

Nothing compares to how much I’ve learned about myself,  life, and different cultures through my travels and nothing gives me as much satisfaction as sharing what I’ve learned with others. I’ve met more new people and made more connections than I know what to do with on this road to self-discovery.

Having said all that, my mission is to share the soul of Jamaica with anybody who wants to discover it for themselves.

As they say about Jamaica;

Once you go….you know.
