Last week I was fortunate enough to have been invited to stay at an amazing villa in the San San area of Port Antonio, Jamaica. The villa was called San Bar Villa and while there I was blessed to experience places like Blue Lagoon, Monkey Island, and San San beach but for now I’m offering a little photographic teaser of the area. The blog is going to be a bit Portland-heavy for a while because there was SO much to see in that stunning parish and I have a lot to write about. I’m already I’m feeling the need to go back and stay much longer.
One of the bonuses of staying in the San San villa was that it had a boat and a butler who was available to take me anywhere I wanted to go by water. During the course of our boating day we toured all over the San San area which included passing by all the beautiful villa homes that line the waterfront there, so I thought I’d share the view of what I saw from the boat.
First up, here is the water view of the villa I was staying at. This main one and the smaller one next door are sister villas operated by the same owners. The small one is under renovation as you can see by the construction workers in the photo.
Moving along the shoreline, here are many of the other villa homes that San San offers.Â
Perhaps the most intriguing one of these homes I saw from the boat is this burned out, abandoned one. I don’t know the story behind it but apparently it’s been this way for a long time, never to be recovered. Notice what appears to be little waterfalls out front….those are not man-made as part of the house. It’s just spring water running through. The eerie contrast of the condemned house and the pretty waterfalls is fascinating to me.
So there you have the waterfront view of the villas at San San, Jamaica. During my stay I watched several boaters, kayakers, and bamboo rafters sail past from my veranda so if you’re ever in this area make sure to find out where you can catch one of these rides and see the beautiful villas for yourself.
