Everyone Has Time for “Just One More”

If there was ever a perfect name for a bar it would be this one:

Just One More.

Because isn’t that the truth at EVERY bar?

It’s a funny story how this bar and its Canadian owner stumbled onto my path.  In April of 2015 I was on the north coast reviewing a couple of vacation apartments in the Salem / Runaway Bay area of Jamaica.  The first morning I woke up in one of the apartments, made my coffee and sat my butt on the veranda overlooking the pool.  I thought the view would make a cool picture so I set up my coffee cup like this, took the picture and then posted it on Facebook.

No word of a lie, within about fifteen minutes I had a knock at my front door.  When I opened it there stood a white lady asking if I was Kristi.  A little puzzled, I said yes.  She then said, “Hey!  I’m Wendy!”  So who the hell is Wendy you might be asking?  She is one of my blog readers who also happens to live in Jamaica.  She said she just happened to be surfing Facebook, saw my coffee cup picture and was like, “Hey, I know that pool!  I live there!”  Wendy actually lived next door to where I took this photo so she KNEW I was there!  Funny story.

Anyway, I stayed in this apartment for almost a week so Wendy and I got together a few times for drinks and chats.  Through one of our chats I found out she was in the process of taking over the bar across the street.  It wasn’t until a while after I left Jamaica that I found out she had finally done it and the bar was hers.  And it was even longer after that (more than a year) that I finally went back to the Runaway Bay area to review another vacation rental.  Again, Wendy saw on Facebook that I would be in the neighborhood and she told me to come by for a visit.  I did just that….at her new bar!

So now that I’m posting about this bar I expect EVERYONE on their way to and from Ocho Rios to drop in for a visit.  Why?  Because it’s right on the main north coast highway and you can’t NOT visit!  You have to drive right by it anyway and you can’t miss it.  It’s the one with the Canadian flag hanging in the front window!

Just One More is located in Salem, which is just up the road from Runaway Bay, right across from the Royal Decameron Club Caribbean resort.  It is also one of the biggest bars I’ve been inside in Jamaica, and has pool tables, an outdoor patio seating area and most importantly…..a Scotiabank ATM right across the road lol.  So you can always afford “Just One More”.

Since Wendy took over the bar she’s been trying to do some pretty cool things with it, such as Canada Day celebrations on July first and karaoke every Saturday.  I also saw on the bar’s Facebook page that she has held Twister nights?  This looks like a riot and trust me, next time I’m there at the same time as Twister….I think it’ll be a mess LOL!

So next time you’re driving through Salem on your way to Ocho Rios drop in, have a drink and say hello!  Wendy is a real cool lady and the bar is a great spot to kick back, shoot a game or two and relax.
