We all know that magic exists everywhere in Jamaica.  But have you ever actually stumbled upon a totally random magic show in the most unlikely place?

I don’t know how I packed so much into one night but this event happened on the same night I went crab hunting in the dark after midnight and to a beach party at Cloggy’s on the Beach at 3:00 AM.  Somewhere in the middle of those two stops I went up to the Parottee area of the beach to a place called Basil’s.  It’s a beach bar where plenty of fishing boats are parked in the sand and many fishermen gather in the mornings to head out for their daily catch.

So the plan for our crab-catching group was to check out this party at Basil’s, have a drink and probably head home since it was super late already.  But what we thought was going to be a small party was actually much bigger.  We grabbed some rum and stuck close to the entrance since we had no intention of staying long.  After a couple of drinks and watching the karaoke going on inside we had decided to leave when suddenly the music turned to “Mission Impossible” theme music and spotlights hit the stage.  Out of nowhere, a pop-up magic show began!  There was no way I was leaving now lol.  I had to see what this was all about!

Myself and one of the guys got in there like dirty shirts and made our way to the front of the stage.  Of course my first thoughts were this blog and video footage so I had to get up close.  The whole experience was hilarious ONLY because this was happening in Jamaica and I’ve never heard so many “bumboclaats” simultaneously in one place.  The audience was funnier than the magician and his butt crack, but the entertainment was plenty!

Now, get out your popcorn because the video is nearly twenty minutes long!

So, now that you’ve seen it I can’t tell you the name of the magician because they never announced it.  And I can’t tell you where else you’ll be able to stumble onto a magic show because this was a first for me in thirteen years!  I would have expected to find this in an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica, not at a beach bar in the bush!

I love where my Jamaica travels take me!Â
