More Flat Tires In Jamaica

This post is more about knowing the right people than flat tires and oddly its not my first post about getting a flat tire in Jamaica. CLICK HERE to see the first time it happened to me.

I discovered a couple days after getting this car in Jamaica that my tire had a slow leak but I only made this discovery at the most inopportune times – usually after dark. This night I just happened to be with the right people who knew how to spot a big ugly truck parked on the road who had an air pump.

The problem with the big truck is it was sitting there for a reason…..it had a battery problem so we couldn’t use the air pump unless the truck could run. Well I just happened to be with a truck driver too, who knew how to fix heavy trucks. Imagine LOL. So he fixed the truck, pumped my tire and we were mobile again.

A couple days later the tire was flat again so it was time to fix it for good. Well I just happened to know someone else who knew of a tire shop in a place I would have never found. I honestly wondered how much the shop was going to charge a white girl to fix a tire – usually we get charged higher prices simply because we’re foreign in Jamaica. But I needed my tire to be reliable so I was willing to pay what it cost to get it fixed.

As I said though, it’s great to know people because the guy who fixed my tired and replaced the faulty valve didn’t charge me a dime. I was actually kind of shocked, this NEVER happens here! So….it’s good to know people in the right places.
