Christmas is over now and I have some time to wrap up 2011 where this blog is concerned. A couple weeks ago I started compiling some really interesting stats about Jamaica My Way to share with you all. I was surprised by some of the stats and intrigued by others. There were some major changes in numbers compared to past years and readership went down probably because I wasn’t posting as often but the shift in dynamics was very interesting to say the least. So read on if you’re curious.
On January 1, 2012 Jamaica My Way will celebrate it’s third birthday and here’s how year #3 finished out.Â
**There are 278 blogs posts on this site, and more than 1700 reader comments – over three years.
**Posts with the most comments of all time are at the following links:
- The Ghetto in Spanish Town, Jamaica
- I Got a Tattoo In Jamaica
- St John’s Preparatory School, Ocho Rios (seems lots of alumni found this post!)
- Banana Spiders in Jamaica
- 40 Legs in Jamaica
- The First Two Months (my summary of living there)
**There are 35 categories, the “Food & Drink” category has the highest number of posts with 31, next is the “Jamaican People” category with 20 posts.
**The 3 most highly visited pages of 2011 are MegaMart, Bashco and Scotchies. People love shopping and eating it seems. A funny fact worth mentioning is that I actually had Jamaicans thinking I WAS Mega Mart and had email asking me where they could send their resume for a job with the store.
**The top two referring sites to Jamaica My Way are of course, Facebook and Google.
**Top three mobile devices people use to view this site are iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch.
**Top five countries reading for all of 2011 are in this order: USA, Jamaica, Canada, UK, Germany. The Canadians are staying on the site longest. This is the one statistic that surprised me the most because Canada used to be #1 for readership and Jamaica was #4.
Those are the random facts I felt like sharing. If you really want to know more numbers you can take a look at my Media / Press Kit which really gets down to the nitty gritty.
More 2011 recapping coming up in the next couple days!
