More Pictures of Jamaican Kids

This is just a fun and refreshing post. No real story to it but I captured some awesome pictures of kids on my trip in July. As I’ve said in previous posts Jamaican children are some of my favorite photo subjects. They’re all so cute and SO WILLING to pose! Okay maybe not all are aware that they’re posing as seen in the next two photos. This little boy just couldn’t keep his eyes open no matter where he was situated!

This next baby girl is one that’s been seen in several of my posts in the Spanish Town section of the blog. She’s the daughter of one of my friends and I hadn’t seen her in a whole year before this photo. She wasn’t walking or standing the last time I saw her.

This next one is on a beach at a restaurant outside of Montego Bay. She belonged to one of the restaurant staff and had a personality to match her cuteness! This shot was just an opportune moment with a great frame!

The next two photos are two little boys (I think!) who were running around at the guest house I stayed at. They came over to see what we were doing and made themselves at home on our chair. So one of my friends gave them a little ride.

And I saved my favorite for last. I was walking up a deserted community road in Ocho Rios and I could hear these kids but couldn’t see them. They were whistling as if to get my attention but they were hiding. Since I couldn’t find them I kept walking until I passed and then all three of them popped their heads over an abandoned shipping container….they were on top! I asked if I could take their picture and they were more than happy to give me this awesome shot. I love it!

  1. yeah, the kids there are a trip, they are pretty rough too, that throw rocks and pick up sticks on eachother, well you know how it is,you have to pick up your feet when you walk, because the paths can become rocky,i saw a girl walking and running at the farmer’s market in Ochie,in 2001,she was only 8 months old, good thing for a child to develop well since life can be pretty hard for them there.

    1. Yah life can be hard for anyone anywhere. They’re born there so they don’t know any different. I think a lot of times it’s only us who thinks they’re hard done by but they’re a LOT better behaved than most North American kids I know. They know their chores, they do them without being told, etc. They all have a place in the family and respect that. That’s just my opinion, having raised a son who is 18 now.

  2. you are definitely right about the kids being taught manners, north american kids could learn from a jamaican upbringing, have you seen the world’s strictest parent’s?,anyway, there is an episode and it’s on youtube as well, the parents are jamaican and the kids may be from england,i think it’s filmed in the UK,but it is a trip when they meet the parents and they lay down some ground rules,i need to watch the whole episode,i bet those parents get after them pretty good, lol

    1. LOL I actually did see that episode, where they were killing chickens and the foreign girl was bawling! It made me laugh.

  3. Which part of JA have you seen children throwing stones and sticks? In the 12 years I have been going to JA I have never seen this, where I go in St Elizabeth they wouldnt dare or wouldnt cause they love each other too much. No I dont stay in big hotels I live in the community. Seen plenty adults fighting though!
