Dead End beach in Montego Bay has always been one of my favorite places to hang out. If you’ve ever flown into Mobay it’s guaranteed you’ve seen it because your plane was practically touching the sand there when you landed. Check out my post about Landing In Montego Bay and watch the video on that page, you’ll see the beach as the plane is coming in.

There’s a bar at Dead End beach which is located pretty much at the dead end of the street, that’s fabulous to hang out at. The day I took these photos I got to the bar at 10AM for breakfast and sat there the entire day, until probably 5PM. If you just sit there all day it’s amazing how many people you can meet while doing absolutely nothing! This bar also has pool tables that help kill time.

I ordered traditional Jamaican breakfast at this place and started drinking rum first thing in the morning too. In the 6 hours I sat at this bar I watched approximately 15 airplanes land at Sangster Airport, which is right on the other side of the wall at the end of the beach. I’m fascinated by airplanes so this is the best place in Jamaica for me to be! Here are a few of the MANY pictures of landing airplanes I saw that day. What’s even cooler is if you’re swimming in the water when the planes land because they fly directly over your head!!

Those pictures don’t really do it justice because those planes are SO close and SO low by the time they reach the bar, that the sound of them is incredible!! Like I said I get off on low flying planes so this was definitely a great day for me.
I had great company that day too. Another girl I work with happened to be in Montego Bay that day so we had breakfast and hung out all day together. Also another Canadian friend who lives in Jamaica came to meet us at this bar for the day. We stayed until early evening as dusk was approaching and then the three of us said our farewells and all headed to our destinations for the night. What a great way to waste a day in Montego Bay!!

This is mos def my favourite beach in JA.
Wait, it’s the only beach I’ve ever been to in JA! 😛
We’re gonna change all that in July! You guys have a car which means we’re totally mobile!!
LOL @ your link BTW. Loser heehee.
Wow,it was my first time to jamaica, for the sumfest. The dead end is defentely one great memory. Skinny dipping with fishes swimming past your toes…..lol
Went To Dead End Beach in February 2010 ….This Must be the most reasonable place to buy drinks in the whole of Mobay … I fit right in with the locals and had a ball … The prices for a cue of APPLETON Was the best price in the Mobay Area … allowing us to do MORE DRINKING Therefore MORE FUN …. I Will Definitely be going back to DEAD END beach the next time I am in Jamaica or rather Montego Bay.
What did you pay for a flask of Appleton?
We like to hang out at Buck End (Dead End) with our friend Stumpy who sells drinks etc from his car…you can’t miss him because he’s almost at the end by the container…when you see him tell him Miss Davis says HI…..its s great place just to sit on the high wall and chill
I LOVE this review. This is one place that will always be in my memories. We used to walk there, along the road that is in front of Andre’s house, and along the airport. We would do some little fence/rock climbing and end up on the beach. One day we climbed out onto one of those reflective things that stick out of the water and felt the rush of the air planes as they flew overhead to land. Another time, we took a stick and harpooned crabs as we walked to take back to cook. Good times! I miss that little stuff most of all.
OMG Kelly I’m jealous you felt that rush of the airplanes! I LOVE watching and hearing them fly in! I remember driving to that home by the airport and delivering something for you soooooo many years ago!
