As I’ve mentioned before, my favorite people in Jamaica are the kids. Even moreso, Jamaican school children in uniform. I LOVE that kids have to wear uniforms to school there!
This day I was walking along a quiet road in the hills of St Mary when I came upon a primary school. I went into a little store first to buy a soda and then came and stood behind the chainlink fence to watch the kids play.
Jamaican kids will always start off acting shy but usually once they see a person with a camera it doesn’t take long for them to break out of their shells and have some fun with it. When these kids saw us they started coming up to the fence a couple at a time.
Soon a whole heap of kids were standing at the fence chatting with us! When I complemented one of the girls on her hair and the pretty beads she said it was a sports day and all the girls do their hair special for sports day. We asked what was the name of their school and talked to them about their day, then asked if we could have a nice group picture of them all. It’s plain to see NONE of them were shy about posting for this shot!
