Flat Tires & Meeting Jamaicans

The greatest thing about Jamaica is that the unexpected and sometimes crappy incidents can even turn out great, or at least not as bad as you think. At the very least you get to see something done in a way you’ve never seen before and might meet new people in the process. Here’s a picture of me before the flat tire incident got exciting LOL.

Our driver got a flat tire right as we were leaving Negril for Ocho Rios one day, so we stopped in at the nearest gas station to buy a tire. They don’t actually install tires at the gas station but if you drive around a corner near the gas station we found a dude with a little place that does install them. I love how in Jamaica anyone can set up anywhere and make a living.

I always have my camera out and ready to take pics of anything and I’m not sure why the building under construction across the street caught my eye. Not super exciting…..until you see a cute guy hanging out the window of the building hahaha.

Well cute guy in window noticed white girl taking a picture of him! Busted!! So he called me over to chat while I waited on the tire change. Not a bad way to kill time! His name was Curtis, which is my son’s name so right away we had something to talk about. And it sure helped that he was easy on the eyes LOL.

The conversation didn’t last long since the tire change was quick, so I said goodbye and was off to Ocho Rios. It wasn’t until I got back home to Canada and looked at my pictures that I realized the construction worker was wearing open-toed sandals on a construction site! LOL I laughed so hard when I noticed that…..ONLY IN JAMAICA! The land of no rules.

Random people in random places….that’s what life is all about. Keeps things interesting.

    1. LOL I guess hotness is subjective. I thought he was cute.

I might be able to make it to ATI next year…..my man actually performed there a couple weeks ago. I heard all about it.

  2. I enjoyed reading your article.lol Jamaica the land of no rules lol. Jamaica does have rules my dear but we all need to make a living.lol Here is a wonderful Patois speaking Jamaican site that I have come across that I would like to share with you and your readers. http://wisejamaican.com.

    1. Agreed, of course there are rules. But when compared to the OVER-ruled North America, its so relaxed down there. You could never find a worker not wearing steel-toed boots on a job site. I thought it was cute he was wearing sandals.

Thanks for the link to your site, I’m gonna check it out.
